This is the personal testimony of danielle about the healing of her mom, chris.
In the summer of 2017, after several months of suffering with severe pain and swelling in the big toe of her left foot, Chris was referred to an orthopedic specialist who ordered an MRI.
On August 7th Chris had the MRI scan of her left foot. On August 8th, at day’s end, she received a disturbing call from a surgical nurse at the orthopedic doctor’s office. The MRI showed a bone infection in her foot that would require immediate surgery. She was told to plan for a five to six day hospital stay.
Chris is my (Danielle) mom. She called to update me and together we prayed. That night I went to bed heavily burdened, lachrymose, wishing I did not live 1,900 miles away, and deeply desiring to anoint her with oil and lay my hands on her foot to pray for her healing—in person.
In the middle of the night, I awoke suddenly from a dream where I was in the back of an ambulance with my mom. She was on a stretcher. Her leg and foot were all swollen and bruised (this is not what it looked like in reality, only in my dream). I put one of my hands on her shin and the other on her foot and began to pray for her healing. Next, I saw my mom in the hospital, alive and doing well. It was apparent that a few days time had passed. I was not aware if she had a surgery or not; I only knew that she was ok.
The dream was so vivid. When I woke up I felt God’s presence so strongly, His peace enveloping me. I got out of bed and began to pray. As I prayed, I understood that this dream was God’s way of giving me the opportunity to lay my hands on my mom and pray for her healing. It was real, like I was really there in person. In my mind I heard the phrase, “there is no distance in the Spirit”; and I knew that everything was going to be ok.
But the reality of the next 24 hours challenged every good thing that I felt in that moment.
In the wee hours of the morning on August 9th I received a text from my mom stating that the doctor was planning for an amputation, and that he wanted her on immediate intravenous antibiotics to prevent a possible life threatening, systemic, septic infection.
In total shock, I sent a prayer request out to everyone I knew and posted it on Facebook. By the end of the day we had hundreds of people praying all over the United States, and others in Cambodia, Canada, Holland, Japan and the United Kingdom.
But the news kept getting worse!
By mid-morning I learned that her surgeon, in about four hours time, planned to amputate her first two or three toes—clear back to the heel (take half of her foot), and that she would need a prosthetic. He told her when the infection gets into the bone, like in her case, it causes the bones to liquify and it keeps spreading.
Things were moving along so quickly we hardly had the chance to digest the situation.
We finally got a break from the whirlwind when surgery was postponed due to a surgical backup in the hospital. This gave us 24 hours to pray for God’s intervention. And boy did He answer in a major way…
The next day, when the surgeon opened up the foot there was no infection in the bones. Whatever was present on the MRI was gone! We got our miracle—No amputation necessary!!! The doctor diagnosed the whole thing as gout and let her keep her foot.
Many of the hospital staff were amazed by this outcome since this surgeon has a reputation for amputation.
My mom has a new lease on life and a renewed appreciation for all ten of her toes! And I have a renewed fervor for prayer because there is “no distance in the Spirit!”
